Charge a card on file
Web Mobile All staff rolesWhy it matters
A member whose card is already on file for their membership can buy a shirt without producing a wallet. That’s the difference between an impulse purchase happening and not.
How
At checkout, select the member. Their saved payment methods appear. Pick one and charge it.
When there’s no card on file
Someone paying by cash or bank transfer for their membership has no card saved. Options:
- Enter a card at checkout for this purchase
- Add a card to their account first, so future purchases are one tap
Etiquette
Tell them you’re charging their card on file. “Want me to put that on your card?” — not silently charging the card they gave you for membership. A surprise charge is a support ticket and sometimes a dispute.
Notes
- The charge is a one-time payment, separate from their subscription.
- It appears in their payment history and on their statement as a distinct line.
