Merge a duplicate
Web Owner · AdminHow duplicates happen
Usually one of these:
- Someone registered for a public event with one email, then joined with another
- They used the app before joining and signed up again at the desk
- A CSV import used a different email than their signup
Fixing it
When Avex detects a likely duplicate — a lead that matches an existing member — a merge banner appears on the member record. One click merges them.
The lead’s history folds into the member record. The member’s status, subscription, and payment details are preserved.
What survives a merge
| Kept | From |
|---|---|
| Status, subscription, payment methods | The member record |
| Check-in history | Both, combined |
| Workout logs and lifts | Both, combined |
| Signed documents | Both |
| Notes and source attribution | Both |
| CRM contact link | Consolidated to one |
If no banner appears
Some duplicates don’t auto-detect — different email, different phone, different spelling. Contact support with both records and they can merge manually.
Preventing them
- Ask for email at every touchpoint — event registration, walk-in, trial signup
- Search before adding. Avex checks for an existing email when you add someone, but only catches exact matches.
