Require a document before check-in

Web Owner · Admin

Turning it on

On the document, enable Required for check-in.

What happens

A member who hasn’t signed is blocked from checking in. They see the document and can sign on the spot — on their phone, or on a tablet at your desk. Check-in works immediately after.

Why use it

This is the setting that guarantees nobody trains unsigned. Signup-time enforcement covers new members, but check-in enforcement covers:

  • Members who joined before you added the document
  • A new version of a waiver after a terms change
  • Members imported from another system whose paper waiver you don’t have

What members see

A banner in the portal and app that reappears at every login until they sign. At the door, a prompt with the document.

It’s persistent by design. A dismissible one-time notice gets ignored.

Rolling out a new required document

Create and activate the document

Mark it required for check-in

Warn your members

Send a note before you switch it on. A member blocked at the door with no warning is an unhappy member, even if they sign in thirty seconds.

Watch the signing rate

Check the signing status over the first week and follow up with stragglers.
